COMPUTING AND INFORMATICS DEPARTMENT
The department was established to equip trainees with Information, Communication and Technology skills. With the ever-changing IT technology due to its advancement and application, we endeavor to mentor and instill in our trainees ICT skills and knowledge that will make them to become great innovators. The department offers digital literacy skills to all trainees in the institute and upgrading of IT skills to staff.
The department offers training in two Sections namely Information Communication Technology and Information Studies. Short courses such as Computer Packages, Accounting packages and Computer Repair and maintenance are also offered.
The department has a Jitume lab that was launched by the CS, Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy. Mr. Eliud Owalo in 2023. Jitume is An Initiative that encourages the youth to take it upon themselves (Jitume) to access digital devices and opportunities to learn, become certified on skills for the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) and to access digital jobs. It is a bundled program that takes care of the main challenges facing the citizens regarding taking advantage of digital opportunities. The challenges range from access to digital devices and internet connectivity, training, and knowledge as well as opportunities that can result in decent and dignified income.
