PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE FRIENDS COLLEGE KAIMOSI RESPONDS TO MARKET NEEDS THROUGH DIVERSIFICATION Friends College Kaimosi officially became ISO 9001:2008 on June 14, 2013 when it received the Certificate from KEBS. This certification was significant considering that the College was among the first TVET institutions to be certified hence setting the pace for its sister institutions especially in the Western Kenya region. By embracing Quality Management Systems (QMS), the College has re-engineered its operations with a strong focus on quality services that exceed customer expectations The College has a long history dating back to 1971 when it was started as a collaborative effort by the Quaker church missionaries from the United States and the local community. It was later on taken over by the Government of Kenya, thus becoming a fully fledged public institution. With Michael N Musuya (The Principal) at the helm, the College is considerably expanding its physical facilities. He has overseen the completion of Engineering Workshops Complex to cater for Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics and Automotive courses and Hospitality complex with self contained guest rooms, conference facilities, Food and Beverage Management workshops, lecture rooms and offices. Towards the end of the year 2013, the College received state of the art training equipment for Automotive Engineering Course. In 2017 the College has also received state of the art equipment for Electrical and Electronics courses from Government of Kenya- China cooperation. The College is also making deliberate effort to enhance its Information and Communication Technology capacity. We now have a functioning e-library and well equipped computer laboratories. An Information Management System has been installed and more modules are being activated in order to enable the College become fully computerized in its operations. With these developments, the College now has the ability and capacity to respond to emerging market training needs by diversifying its training programmes with a focus on engineering courses both at Diploma , Certificate  and Artisan level. In line with this, the College has launched new Engineering courses in Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Building Construction, Plumbing and Automotive. Other courses like Fashion Design and Garment Making, Hair dressing and Beauty Therapy have been introduced. More Courses are due to be launched in due course. Friends College Kaimosi intends to actively play its part in contributing towards the country realizing its Vision 2030, by providing access to high quality and industry relevant training opportunities to Kenyans. We intend to achieve this by strengthening our linkages with industry and ensuring quality training.  BOARD OF GOVERNORS The Board of Governors operating under the Ministry of Education governs the institution. The BOG is also involved in resource mobilization towards development activities of the College (FCK). Currently the Board is under the very able Chairmanship of Prof.Mike Iravo. The day-to-day operations are coordinated by Michael N Musuya Principal . The internal administrative structure is organized as follows:-

Curriculum Implementation The Institute has two campuses offering both full-time and part-time in a wide range of courses in Higher Diploma, Diploma, Certificate as well as Tailor-made courses and Consultancies.  These courses are designed to provide the requisite knowledge and skills to empower the youth and contribute to National Development. There are 11 admitting Departments namely;

  • Applied Sciences

The College is also a power house in co-curricular activities and has consistently been ranked among the top performers both at Regional and National KETTISO tournaments, TVET Fair and Robotics competitions, Music and Drama Festivals. The College also has an active Scouting movement, Christian Union, Seventh Day Adventist and Young Christian Students.
